Whenever you hear the words Metal, Goth, Emo or Macabre you automatically feel the spirit of Halloween or maybe Wednesday Addams comes to mind mixed with a bit of Ozzy and Alice Cooper. If you're a Millennial you would probably say Blood on the Dancefloor or Black Veil Brides. I have always been attracted to the dark and unknown since I was a little. I was always attracted to a raven, or a black cat sitting on a dusty and crooked window sill. Fascinated by dusk and never dawn. We are the people that listen, record, and breathe metal music. Metal music has never been for the mainstream or faint of heart and it seemed to have lost its appeal among the sea of over played pop songs and watered down hip hop these days. The ever flowing metal songs that run through our veins can only be heard on XM radio, Internet radio or download.. What happened to the songs on radio you could relate to when you were having a bad day or horrible year as a dark spirit suffering in deep silence or a complete bad ass out riding the highway to hell. Everytime I turn on the radio I feel like i'm on Sesame Street with Barney wearing a yellow dress with flowers....YIKES! There are still millions of us who like our music rough, edgy, bad ass, dark, melodic and sinister. We still see the world through our industry ancestors like Ozzy, Marilyn, Mr Zombie, and Alice. We owe it to them to keep hope alive and support good up and coming metal bands, I'll even take hard rock if it meant getting rid of the pop prince and princess era that continues to plague us everyday forcing us to say, enough already! I will continue to fight the dark fight and support the fierce and defiant. Maybe i'll treat myself to lunch at the "House of 1000 Corpses". That's a way to keep my metal spirits up. Have a great day my children.
